“I am looking forward to the future.”

Jason Holman

“During my childhood and up until coming to Teen Challenge I was very rebellious toward law enforcement and rules. Surprisingly, I have only been arrested one time. My parents never abused me and taught me well growing up, but for some reason I never knew the difference between ‘should’ not do something and ‘cannot’.  When someone would say I could not do something because it was wrong or against the law I always had to prove that I could do it. What they really meant was I should not do it.

“I took my first drink and smoked my first cigarette when I was ten years old. Long story short, I have done almost every drug out there and used some of these drugs by injection. Opiates did me in, as do most, because the withdrawals were too much to bear. After stealing from family, lost jobs, suicide attempt, hospitalizations and on and on I tried the only thing I had left, and that was to come to Christ. This is the first time I have felt lifted from my past, and I am looking forward to the future. One pastor puts it this way: ‘I am now living life on purpose!’

“Daily devotions have become a focal point for me. If I am running late one morning, it does not feel right to not do them. I am looking forward to continuing in God’s Word and learning more about the Bible. I want to be a great son and brother for my family and want to be able to have a family of my own one day, but right now I am happy serving God.”

The testimony of Jason Holman, who completed Basic Induction at Teen Challenge of Greater Cleveland, in Perry, Ohio, on October 23, 2014, and then moved on to Teen Challenge International Mid America, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for the Advanced Training Phase.
